From Trauma to Triumph: The Story of Tina and Her Babies

Being a mother doesn’t mean being related to someone by blood. It means loving someone unconditionally and with your whole heart.

What a beautiful world it would be if people had hearts like dogs.

Whoever said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend never loved a dog.

By unknown brilliant authors

I was still a puppy, yet I had my first litter. I was living in a house under construction with the janitor who had adopted me until one day the owner decided that he no longer wanted me in his house.

My little brain couldn’t understand what went wrong. I was such a good girl and the house wouldn’t be ready before a few months.I had to return to my pack, especially as my Hooman used to provide food and vet needs.

I knew it wouldn’t be easy to be accepted after many months of living outside the tribe. I became a stranger, but I’m a warrior and had to try!

Unfortunately, my mother and sister ended up attacking me so violently that they hit my trachea. My Hooman took me to the vet as soon as she knew about the incident.

The first five days of my stay at the vet hospital were challenging. My survival was not sure and the team needed to work hard to keep me alive!

Momma kept searching for my two babies for three days without much success before letting go with a heavy heart. On the 5th day, she received a call from the area’s janitor to inform her they’d just heard some noise.

She fought for my warriors since the vets were skeptical and couldn’t believe my kids were still alive after five long days while they weren’t even two weeks old.

I’m guessing it’s all they know, and I don’t blame them!

Anyway, our Hooman made our reunion possible after a 30-minute negotiation. For this, I can’t thank her enough!

She later spent almost two weeks looking for a foster or final loving family for all of us. She was concerned for three main reasons:

  • Last time, I was saved miraculously. It wasn’t an option to come back to my tribe,
  • Momma had a tiny apartment and no way to welcome and protect us,
  • Her financial situation was very difficult with tons of accumulated debts, and still is.

When she almost lost hope, a friend introduced Momma to a new shelter owner who kindly agreed to take us! The Universe seemed too small for how overjoyed my Hooman felt!

It was a 3-hour trip. We were finally free from all the clinic constraints!

In the beginning, being still very traumatized from the attack, I was super anxious when witnessing how many dogs were nearby.

I didn’t even have my voice back, but I was trying to bark with all the strength that I had in my still recovering vessel.

Our new caregiver had to add a big kennel a few days later so that we could be protected during the rainy days!

I wasn’t long until my champions found their forever-loving family. I was over the mooon; I could finally relax!

Afterward, I was progressively introduced to my new big tribe. I wasn’t a straightforwad process. There were challenges and a few misunderstandings, but I eventually found my place.

Even though I highly appreciate all that my new Hooman Virginie and all the staff have done for me, I need to be honest and admit that I am tired of not having a bed. I am tired of not having my personal toy. I am tired of not having treats. I am tired of having to share my Hoomans’s affection with so many other dogs and cats.

I want a break from competing all the time. I want to be ablt to relax in my warm bed while being surrounded with all my favorite toys. I want to receive tons of love day and night that I promise to reciprocate abundantly. I want to be worriless and happy.

Is that too much asking from life?
